For the 2018 Zimmermann anniversary, composer Vladimir Guicheff Bogacz was commissioned by the City of Cologne to write another work for uBu's line-up, drawing on Présence; uBu member Yves Ytier created the choreography. “The work is based on choreographer Rudolf Laban's classifications of movement. This does not mean that movement plays a role independently of sound. Rather, I want to highlight a very concrete relationship between movement and sound, including where different types of sound are paired with the same type of movement. La Palanca means ‘the lever’, and this image plays a central role in the work: it concerns a kind of balance—or its exact opposite—that allows something very heavy to be counterbalanced by something very light.” (Vladimir Guicheff Bogacz)
